NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team dropped its sixth-straight decision at Merrimack, 6-1, on Sunday.
The Pioneers are now 1-7 on the year and 0-2 in NEC play.
Senior
Kevin Chao picked up the lone victory on the day when his opponent Andre Singer retired before the completion of the match. Chao took the first set, 6-3, and was in route to finish strong as he was leading, 4-2, in the second before Singer retired.
Antoine Hernandez and
Philip Lynch both forced third sets in singles action after falling in the first. Both Pioneers were unable to prevail in the final set.
Lefteri Aposolou and
William Wibmer at first doubles and
Tyler Lowe and
Matyas Vencl at second doubles fell, 6-2.
SHU resumed conference play on Saturday when it hosts Wagner at 6 p.m. at the Tennis Club of Trumbull.
