CHARLESTON, SC.- The Sacred Heart University softball team halved its games on day two of the Charleston Southern University tournament on Saturday falling 9-4 to Virginia and prevailing 2-1 against Charleston Southern.

Of Note:
- Virginia jumped on the board first off a single to left by Sarah Coon to put the Cavaliers ahead 1-0.
- The Pioneers responded back in the inning as Alyssa Gonzalez knocked in a single scoring in Myah Eldred as she scored on the throw in.
- Following the Gonzalez RBI, Emily Carroll followed with an RBI single scoring in Amy Petrovich from third to put the Pioneers ahead 2-1.
- Grace Saad would reach on an error in the bottom of the first scoring in Gonzalez to put the Pioneers ahead 3-1 after the opening inning.
- Virginia countered in the top of the third with an RBI single and an error in left field to even the score at 3-3.
- The Cavaliers then tallied three more runs in the fourth inning off a bases loaded walk and a sacrifice fly as well as a throwing error to take a 6-3 lead.
- An double by Petrovich in the fourth inning would narrow the lead to 6-4 but a two run home run and a sac fly to left field by Virginia in the sixth inning would lead to a 9-4 defeat.

- Both sides remained scoreless heading into the fourth inning before Grace Saad ripped a 2 RBI triple scoring in Emily Carroll and Cayla Nista to put the Pioneers ahead 2-0.
- Gracie Prince homered to left field for Charleston Southern but wasn't enough to even the score.
- Sarah Lawton pitched her second straight seven inning game allowing just one earned run with three strikeouts.
