Sacred Heart Tops Fairfield 69-58 in Crosstown Rivalry

Pryor tallies career-high 27 points

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— Meeting for the first time in the crosstown rivalry since 2016, the Sacred Heart University women's basketball team came through with a 69-58 victory at Fairfield on Sunday. First year Ny'Ceara Pryor tabbed a season high in scoring with 27 points.

Of Note:
The game went through three ties and three lead changes in the first quarter. First-year Sierra Johnson drained a three at the buzzer and Sacred Heart went on a 13-4 run that stretched into the second quarter, giving it the 26-17 lead at the 6:03 mark. The Pioneers would not look back the rest of the contest.
 
Sacred Heart had the advantage from the free-throw line with 23-of-30 (76.7%) while Fairfield was 9-of-17 (52.9%). The Pioneers also notched 19 points off 21 Stag turnovers.
 
In addition to Pryor who recorded her fourth 20+ point performance, graduate student Sajada Bonner finished with 14, including 12 of them from behind the arc. First year Amelia Wood posted a season-high 13 points.
