SHELTON, Conn. — Women's ice hockey took on Stonehill College at home at The Rinks Saturday afternoon, winning 6-4.
A tight contest all day that saw no first period scoring, the second period lit up the scoreboard, with two shots finding the net for each team to go into the third period with a 2-2 tie.
The third period turned into even more of a shootout, with six total goals coming in the final frame.
Paige McNeil scored the game winner 16:40 into the period on an assist from Delaney MacKay before Sydney Antonakis secured the two goal victory on an empty netter.
Molly Elmore made her sixth appearance between the posts for the Pioneers, allowing four goals while grabbing 21 saves on 25 shots sent by the Skyhawks. Elmore moves to 3-2-1 on the year.
Sacred Heart goes to 4-8-1 overall on the year and 3-4-1 in NEWHA conference play. The Pioneers will be back home next Friday and Saturday as the will welcome Franklin Pierce.
