Women’s Hockey Ties In Tight Overtime Contest

Box Score SHELTON, Conn. — Sacred Heart women's hockey saw Saint Anselm in a rematch Saturday afternoon, tying 3-3 at The Rinks.


Saint Anselm got on the scoreboard first for the second day in a row but Katie Keenan tied it at 1-1 on an assist from Paige McNeil 3:36 into the second period. Saint Anselm came away with a late second period goal before Sophie Lupone tied the game at two a piece on a power play goal 9:51 into the third period on an assist from Cassandra Nevers. Saint Anselm was able to find the net 15:48 into the third before Delani Mackay received an assist on a shorthanded goal two and a half minutes later to send it to overtime at 3-3.

Molly Elmore was back in net for the Pioneers on the afternoon, allowing three goals and grabbing 32 saves on her way to a 2-2-1 record in five starts on the early season. 

Sacred Heart goes to 3-5-1 on the year and 3-3-1 in NEWHA action. The Pioneers will play their next pair of games on the road as they'll travel to Mankato, Minn. to see Minnesota State University - Mankato on Friday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.
