Box Score SHELTON, Conn. — Sacred Heart women's hockey saw action for the first time in two weeks, losing to Saint Anselm 5-3 at The Rinks.
Saint Anselm found the net early, scoring just over a minute into the first period and getting out 2-0 minutes into the second.
Kelly Solak cut the lead in half 13:21 into the second period on assists from
Nicole Guidi and Kailey Smith.
After Saint Anselm added goals with 4 seconds left in the second period and an early third period goal,
Kerryn O'Connell netted her first goal of the year on an assist from
Charlotte Huntington 4:12 into the third. A minute and a half later, Delani Mackay closed the gap to make it 4-3 on assists from
Paige McNeil and
Katie Keenan.
Carly Greene took the net for her fourth start on the season, allowing five goals and stopping 21 of 26 shots sent her way by the Hawks.
Sacred Heart falls to 3-5 overall and a .500 record of 3-3 in NEWHA action. The Pioneers will have a rematch with the Hawks Saturday afternoon back at The Rinks of Shelton at 2:30 p.m.
