PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Sophie Witek led the saber squad for the Sacred Heart University women's fencing team at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational on Saturday.
The senior captain went 7-4 including a 3-0 stint against the host team and 2-1 versus John Hopkins.
In round two, Jenna Jacinto tallied two foil wins in the close 5-4 loss against NJIT. The first year also went 2-1 in the Wagner matchup.
The Red & White came out on top against the shorthanded Fairleigh Dickinson in round six. Jacinto and Tia Petrides tallied one bout victory apiece in the foil. In the saber, Emma Marchetta-Turner and Tiffany Kellstromsecured two wins, while Jessica Young added one.
SHU competes in its second Northeast Fencing Conference meet on February 5 at Wellesley.
