Box Score NORWICH, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University baseball team fought fiercely, but the effort wasn't enough in the Northeast Conference Tournament elimination game. On Saturday, the Pioneers narrowly lost 5-3 against Central Connecticut State.

- Following a beautiful squeeze by Anthony Porrino, Danny Glendon crossed the plate to knot the game at three in the bottom of the eighth inning.
- For his second time against the Blue Devils this season, Isiah Daubon belted one out to left field to tally the first run of the game.
- SHU built a 2-0 lead when Joey Skarad singled and drove in Joe Emerson.
- The Blue Devils took the lead in the sixth with a trio of runs. CCSU drove in two in the top of the ninth to earn the win.
Head coach Nick Restaino should have another contender in 2022 as 18 hitters are back, along with 14 pitchers.
