LORETTO, Pa.- The Sacred Heart University softball team's season came to a close this afternoon as the team fell to #2 seed LIU in the losers bracket round by a final score of 3-2.

Sacred Heart Pioneers (15-23 overall, 13-15 NEC)

Saint Francis U Red Flash (26-8 overall, 25-6 NEC) 

Score: SHU 2, LIU 3

Of Note 

• SHU jumped out on the board early with a two-run home run by junior catcher Alyssa Gonzalez to put the Pioneers ahead 2-0 in the first inning.
• LIU began trimming the SHU lead beginning in the second inning with an RBI single by Katie Hinkle to cut the SHU lead to 2-1.
• After the Pioneers and Sharks were unable to score heading into the fifth inning, LIU would come back to tie the game up off an RBI double by Cameron Lyman to even the score at 2-2.
• LIU fired off the game-winner off a home run by Angelina Rena in the bottom of the sixth and the Pioneers were unable to come back resulting in the 3-2 defeat.
• SHU concludes the season with a 15-23 overall record and 13-15 record in conference play.
