Box Score 2 FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University softball team split its doubleheader this afternoon with Fairleigh Dickinson as they fell 5-4 in ten innings in the first game while taking the second game 2-1.

Game 1
Score: FDU 5, SHU 4 (10 innings)
Of Note
- After a scoreless first inning, Fairleigh Dickinson led off the top of the second with an RBI single to right field to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
- SHU answered right back as senior Kira Ferraiolo would launch her second home run of the year scoring in two runs in the bottom half of the second to put SHU ahead 2-1.
- After the Knights took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third, junior Amy Petrovich fired off a double to right-center scoring in senior Caroline Kruger to even the score at 3-3.
- Then the seventh inning FDU would take the lead off an RBI double but a sacrifice fly by senior Caroline Kruger would even the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh sending the game into extra innings.
- FDU scored the winning run in the top of the 10th inning off a sac fly to left field to give the Knights the eventual 5-4 victory.

Score: FDU 1, SHU 2
Of Note
- FDU got on the board first with an RBI double to left field by Crissy Triska to put the Knights ahead 1-0.
- The game would be a pitcher's duel between sophomore Olivia Vadas and FDU's Malorie Bell as neither side would allow more than one run-through six innings.
- First-year Emily Carroll would be the saving grace for the Pioneers as she would come clutch in the bottom of the sixth inning as she ripped a two-RBI single to center field with the bases loaded to give the Pioneers the 2-1 lead and eventual victory.
- Carroll was the hot bat in game two going 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBI's in the game.
- Vadas would go all seven innings allowing just one run on just one hit and striking out six batters to improve her record to 4-3 on the year.
- In the Pioneers victory, head coach Pam London picked up her 300th career victory as head coach of the Pioneer. As just the second coach in SHU's history, London has served 15 seasons with the team generating an overall record of 300-389-2.
