TRUMBULL, Conn. — With its third consecutive shutout, the Sacred Heart University women's tennis program toppled Providence, 7-0, on Monday. The Pioneers improved to 4-3 on the season, with the Friars falling 0-4.
The number three duo of Flavia Rambaldi and Lauren Santarsiero took the first match, 6-2, before Providence tied it up in the No. 2 doubles. Ciara O'Toole and Katsiaryna Starastsenka at number one, secured the doubles point with their third consecutive win as partners.
The Pioneers mustered all six singles wins, despite the Friars pushing three matches into a third set.
Brianne Lauria was the first off the court with her 6-3, 6-2 win at number three. Starastesenka followed at number two with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph then Grace Del Pino secured the team victory with her 6-4, 6-2 win at number six.
The Pioneers are back in action at Bryant on March 28 at noon.
