FAIRFIELD, Conn.- LIU answered back from yesterday's two-game sweep as the Sharks defeated the Sacred Heart University softball team 6-5 and 4-0 on Sunday.

Game 1

Score: LIU 6, SHU 5

Of Note  

• After a scoreless first inning, LIU jumped on the board first with three runs off an RBI single and error. Then a three-run home-run by Ciara Granado would put the Sharks ahead 6-0 after two innings.
• The Pioneers didn't give up as a 2 RBI single to left field by senior Caroline Kruger and a sacrifice fly to right field would narrow the LIU lead to 6-3.
• Solid pitching by both sides would halt the scoring until the sixth inning when senior Kira Ferraiolo ripped a double to right-center scoring in two runs to tighten the Shark's lead to 6-5.
• But the Sharks would be able to close out the game resulting in the 6-5 loss.

Game 2 

Score: LIU 4, SHU 0

Of Note   

• Three of the four Shark runs were scored in the first inning as a pair of bases-loaded hit pitches and a single would put the Sharks ahead 3-0.
• Two out of the three Pioneer hits in game two came off the bat of sophomore Myah Eldred. Her three hits this weekend were the first of the season for the sophomore.
• LIU's Tallie Woodson would command the circle going all seven innings striking out five and walking just two.
