- SHU maintained a 2-0 lead into the second period as goals by sophomore Braeden Tuck and junior Austin Magera tallied the two opening goals.
- Tuck's goal was the first postseason goal in his career.
- Junior goalie Josh Benson tallied a career-high and program history single-game high 68 saves in the game.
- Army was able to even the score at 2-2 in the second period as goals by Eric Butte and Mason Krueger evened the score.
- Sophomore Patrick Dawson answered back for the Pioneers delivering his first goal of the season coming 18:54 into the period to put SHU ahead 3-2 heading into the third period.
- Then a little past midway through the third Army tied the game up at 3-3 off a goal by Thomas Farrell 12:21 in to send the game into overtime.
- Neither team would be able to score in the first two overtime periods as goalie Josh Benson tallied 12 saves through two overtimes.
- Then 13:20 into the third overtime, Colin Bilek cashed in the game-winner to advance the Black Knights to the AHA semifinals.
- SHU concludes the 2020-21 season with a 6-10-2 overall record and a 6-8-2 Atlantic Hockey record.
