Of Note
- In the opening period, neither side was able to get on the board after an Army goal was waved off due to offsides on the Black Knights early in the first.
- Shots on goal were all even at 11 a piece as a Pioneer power-play at the end of the period led to an increase on the shots at goalie Trevin Kozlowski.
- After the second period, the game remained scoreless as the Pioneer penalty kill proved effective in halting the Black Knights on two man-advantage opportunities.
- Early in the third period, Army would strike first with a goal from Mitch Machlitt 1:25 into the period to put the Black Knights ahead 1-0.
- Then four minutes later Army would add onto their lead with 14:43 remaining in the period with a goal from Ricky Lyle to put the Black Knights ahead 2-0.
