MANCHESTER, Conn. — The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team lost 7-0 to non-conference rival UConn on Wednesday. The Pioneers fall to 1-3 on the season while the Huskies improve to 2-1.

Keira Tobia at number six singles won the second set, 6-2, versus UConn's Luciana Rabines, after a 6-3 loss in the first. The senior fell 10-7 in the final set, tallying the fifth point for the Huskies.

First-year Katsiaryna Starastsenka narrowly lost against the Huskies' Denise Lai, pushing it to three sets at number three singles. The Mogilev, Belarus native was bested in the first set 7-5, but tied it up with a 6-4 win in the second to force a third set, where she is defeated, 10-8.

In number two singles, sophomore Ciara O'Toole put pressure on the Huskies' Leonie Hoppe in the first set, resulting in a tiebreaker, but Hoppe prevailed 10-8. 

SHU faces Army West Point at 10:30 a.m. on March 12.
