FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The saber squad went 3-4 in the saber in the Sacred Heart University women's fencing, 6-0, loss at their home invitational.
Sophie Witek led the Pioneers with a 10-7 saber record on Sunday.
The junior topped Northeast Fencing Conference opponent Vassar in the second round, along with Temple and NYU in the sixth and seventh.
Tiffany Kellstrom followed suit for her own 3-0 bout record against the Brewers.
Emma Marchetta-Turner finished off VC in the 8-1 triumph after going 2-1. The sophomore also only gave up one loss in her three bouts against Penn State.
The saber squad continued to dominate as
Jessica Young tallied a 2-1 record in the, 5-4, victory against PSU.
In the foil, newcomer
Jenna Jacinto achieved a 2-1 record against NJIT in the close, 5-4, defeat.
The Red & White take a long break going into the new year with their next meet on January 22 at the University of Pennsylvania.
