CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Sophie Witek coasted over the opponents with a 10-5 record for the Sacred Heart University women's fencing team at the first Northeast Fencing Conference meet on Saturday. The Red & White tallied one win against University of New Hampshire, 25-2, in the opening round of the tournament.
The foil fivesome consisting of
Brianne Lynch,
Jenna Jacinto,
Tia Petrides,
Chenchen Cui and
Tahira Regalado stuffed the Wildcats out, 9-0.
Witek led the saber squad as she was also the lone scorer against Brown, MIT, Brandeis, Boston College and Tufts.
Regalado and
Grace Hand made their season debut. In the foil, Regalado went 2-3 while Hand garnered a 4-14 record in the epee.
The team did not participate in rounds four and eight of the meet.
The Pioneers host their only home meet of the season at 10 a.m. on December 5 in the William H. Pitt Center.
