POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — In its first team-scored meet of the season, the Sacred Heart University women's fencing team secured three wins at the Vassar College Invitational on Sunday. The Pioneers defeated two non-league opponents and went 1-1 against Northeast Fencing Conference rivals Vassar and Wellesley.
Sophie Witek dominated for the Red & White as she posted an 11-2 saber record on the day. Coming in for relief, newcomer
Jessica Young went 2-1 in the saber.
First-year
Jenna Jacinto carried the epee squad with an 11-9 bout victory record. As an alternate in the foil,
Chenchen Cui garnered a 2-2 overall record.
The team competes in its first NCF meet against MIT on November 20.
