WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team earned its fourth win of the season, as the Pioneers defeated Saint Francis University, 2-1, on the road Monday afternoon. Bridget LaRiccia and Makenna Crawford tallied a goal in the win.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, September 8, when the Pioneers host Albany in its first home game at Johnson Field in New Haven, Conn. at 1 p.m.

The Scoring

• (15:01): Bridget LaRiccia scored to put Sacred Heart up 1-0. and Kelsy Hopkins as well as Colleen McAninley were credited with assists.

• (49:25): Brianna Govia received a pass from Brea Seabrook and scored to tie the contest at 1-1.

• (59:43): Makenna Crawford scored the unassisted game-winning goal

Noteworthy

• LaRiccia's goal was the sixth of her career and second of the season

• LaRiccia's two goals on the season ties her for the team lead with Hopkins

• It was the second game in a row where Hopkins recorded an assist.

• McAninley's assist was her second of the season and gives her four points in five games

• Crawford's goal was her first of the season

• Crawford's game-winning goal was the second of her career as she also scored the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win over Siena on Oct. 6, 2017

• Hailey Power made a 10 saves  in the win.

• The Pioneers are 3-1 when Power has faced double-digit shots

• Saint Francis outshot SHU 15-10

• Sacred Heart registered seven shots on goal, while Saint Francis recorded 11
