BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team moved to 2-0 on the young 2018 season after defeating Lehigh 2-1 on the road Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers received goals from Colleen McAninley and Allie Brouhard in the win.

The Pioneers took the lead at 16:24 when McAninley knocked home the contests' first goal.  Brouhard followed with a goal at 52:17 after scoring off a rebound in front of the net. Lehigh was able to muster a goal at 66:26, but it wasn't enough to get past SHU.

The Pioneers return to action on Friday, August 31, when the Pioneers travel to take on Georgetown at 2 p.m. in Washington, D.C.

The Scoring

• (16:24): Allie Brouhard sent the penalty corner into play to Emily Alexis, who made a move to the right and passed to McAninley who put the shot home.

• McAninley's goal was the third goal in her career.

• It is the second game in a row where McAninley has registered a point, as she recorded an assist in SHU's last contest against Lock Haven.

• The assist was the first of Alexis' collegiate career.

• (52:17): Brouhard sent the penalty corner into play to Marlena Koellner, who shot on goal. The Lehigh goalkeeper made the deflection save, but Brouhard came back into the play and shot the rebound past the goalkeeper.

• Brouhard's goal was the fourth of her career.

• It is the second game in a row where McAninley has registered a point, as she recorded an assist in SHU's last contest against Lock Haven.

• (66:26): Lehigh got on the board after Maddie Leavitt sent the penalty corner into play to Lenke Havas, who made a move then fired a low shot into goal.
