Box Score ORONO, ME (August 27, 2016)—Rebecca Hauser (Mohrsville, Pa.) netted the Pioneers' first goal of the 2016 season as the Sacred Heart field hockey team dropped the season opener to Providence 6-1 at the University of Maine.
With the Pioneers down 2-0 and time winding down in the first half, Nicole Granito (Matawan, N.J.) passed a penalty corner in to Hauser in front of the cage. The sophomore converted the corner to make it a one-goal game, but that would be all SHU could manage as the Pioneers were unable to get their offense going in the second half.
Sacred Heart returns to action tomorrow when its faces the Maine Black Bears at 1:00 p.m.

- Hauser scored her first goal of the season
- Bridget Kelly (South Windsor, Conn.), Kelsy Hopkins (Ambler, Pa.) and Kaeleigh Lord (Keene, N.H.) made their collegiate debuts. Hopkins took the first three shots of her career, putting two on goal
