Box Score 2 BROOKLYN, N.Y. (April 30, 2016)—The Sacred Heart softball team was swept by LIU Brooklyn Saturday afternoon at LIU Field. After Lauren Delgadillo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) homered in the first inning, the Pioneers were unable to score again in game one falling 2-1. Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.) struck out 11 Blackbirds through 4.2 innings in game two, but LIU got the better of the junior starter using a three-run fourth and a four-run fifth inning to give her the loss. The Blackbirds went on to score five more run in the sixth inning off rookie Kristen McCann (Phoenix, Ariz.) to cut the 12-1 game short.
SHU closes out the 2016 season tomorrow with a doubleheader at Central Connecticut beginning at noon.
Game 1:
How It Happened:
- The teams traded solo homeruns in the first inning to head into the second tied at one
- LIU starter Erynn Sobieski allowed just four SHU batters to reach base after Delgadillo's homerun in the first, stranding three in scoring position
- A Blackbird leadoff single in the top of the fourth came back to haunt SHU started Adrianna Mallory (Pine Bush, N.Y.). Kylie Mulholland stole second and came around to score the game-winner on Alyssa Gospodarek's single through the left side

- Lopez went 2-for-2 in the game with a homerun and a single
Game 2:
How It Happened:
- The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Victoria D'Addario (Lincoln Park, N.J.) led off the inning with a single through the middle and moved to second as Hannah Ford (New Fairfield, Conn.) singled to left field. After advancing to third on Andrea Sidor's (North Vancouver, British Columbia), the junior crossed the plate to score SHU's only run thanks to Hailey Desrosiers' (Cypress, Calif.) single to center field
- SHU was kept off the base paths past the third as Tallie Woodson and Sobieski combined to strike out eight Pioneer batters through six innings
- LIU came from behind to take a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth getting three unearned runs after a SHU fielding error. The Blackbirds tacked on four more in the fifth knocking Carlson out of the game, before getting five more off reliever McCann cutting the game short
Highlights:
- Carlson struck out 11 batters through 4.2 innings of work
- D'Addario went 1-for-2 with a single, scoring SHU's only run of the game
For the Foes:
- Celinna Cosio went 2-for-4 in game two with a pair of homers, racking up six RBI
- Mulholland hit two doubles to go 2-for-3 with one RBI and scored one run
