Box Score 2 Fairfield, Conn. (April 24, 2016) – The Sacred Heart softball team split their senior day doubleheader at Pioneer Park on Sunday afternoon. The Knights took game one 5-3 before the Pioneers edged out A 7-4 win in game two.
The Knights took game one from Sacred Heart as they were able to put together a big inning in the second which saw them get four consecutive hits and score three runs. The Pioneers cut it to one but couldn't rally back.
In game two, FDU took advantage of three first inning errors by the Pioneers to put up four runs in the first inning. That was all starter Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.) allowed as the Pioneers chipped away at the deficit and eventually tied the game in the fifth and taking the lead in the sixth, highlighted by a Fallon Bevino (Milford, Conn.) two-run double.
Sacred Heart will finish the season on the road, their next game is Tuesday, as they travel to Siena for a doubleheader starting at 3:00 pm.

GAME 1: SACRED HEART vs. FDU
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights got the bats going early as they were able to put up three runs on four hits and an error in the top of the second
- The Pioneers answered in the bottom half of the second as Lindsay DeDomenico (Northford, Conn.) doubled down the right field line to scored Kristen McCann (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Victoria D'Addario (Lincoln Park, N.J.)
- In the top of the fifth Kellie Natham hit a two-run homerun that scored Madelaine Wilen
- Lauren Delgadillo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) doubled to the gap in left center to score DeDomenico in the top of the seventh but their rally was spoiled by FDU's Baylee Ports
HIGHLIGHTS:
- DeDomenico had two RBI
- Delgadillo had an RBI
- Adrianna Mallory (Pine Bush, NY) pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief
FOR THE FOES:
- Courtney Slye led the Knights with two hits
- Natham had a two-run homerun in the fifth
- Loren Stavrou got the win for FDU
GAME 2: SACRED HEART vs. FDU
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- FDU took advantage of three Pioneer errors in the first inning and scored four runs on just three hits
- The Pioneers got one back in the bottom of the first when Hailey Desrosiers (Cypress, Calif.) scored on a passed ball
- SHU got two more back in the bottom of the second inning when Andrea Sidor (North Vancouver, British Columbia) hit a sacrifice fly to score McKenna Wiegand (Gilbert, Ariz.) and then Delgadillo hit an RBI single that scored Hannah Ford (New Fairfield, Conn.) to make it 4-3
- D'Addario tied the game in the fifth inning when she hit an RBI double that scored Jessica Dubbioso (North Salem, N.Y.)
- Bevino hit a bases loaded two-run double to put the Pioneers on top in the sixth inning, Delgadillo and Sidor scored
- Pinch runner Danielle Tenney (Claremont, N.H.) scored on a D'Addario fielders choice to make it 7-4
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Delgadillo, Fillmore, and Sidor each had two hits for the Pioneers
- D'Addario and Bevino had two RBI each
- Carlson went the distance as she scattered five hits giving up just one earned run while striking out four
