Box Score 2 Fairfield, Conn. (April 20, 2016) – The Sacred Heart softball team lost a game and tied a game Wednesday afternoon at Pioneer park, as they played host to the Yale Bulldogs. The Bulldogs took game one 5-2 before the two teams tied 1-1 in game two after eight innings due to darkness
Game one was tied after one inning, but then Yale scored two in the second and didn't look back as they extended their lead and won the game 5-2. Kelli Licursi (Somers, N.Y.) got her first start of the season and went three innings before being relieved by Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.). Yale starter Lindsay Efflandt scattered five hits in a complete game win for her.
Game two saw less offense as the two teams tied 1-1 after an eight-inning game that was called due to darkness. The Bulldogs got their lone run in the third inning after Laina Do doubled and scored on a Brittany Labbadia single. The Pioneers evened it in the bottom of the sixth when Stephanie Appelberg (Monroe, Conn.) bunted her way on with two outs and then scored on a Fallon Bevino (Milford, Conn.) RBI double.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday as they travel to Staten Island to play Wagner in a conference doubleheader that starts at 1:00 pm.

GAME 1: SACRED HEART vs. YALE
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Labbadia was hit by a pitch to start the game, she stole second and then scored on an error by the catcher on a sacrifice bunt by Sydney Ginsberg to make it 1-0 Yale
- The Pioneers evened it in the bottom half of the first when Lauren Delgadillo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) singled to lead off the game, stole second, scored later in the inning on a Victoria D'Addario (Lincoln Park, N.J.) sacrifice fly.
- The bulldogs put up two more runs in the second on a RBI double by Delgadillo that scored Rachel Paris and a RBI single by Shelby Kennedy that scored Delgadillo to make it 3-1
- Yale added one in the sixth after Delgadillo doubled and got to third on a bobbled ball and then her pinch runner Sydney Glover scored on a Kennedy double to make it 4-1
- Kelyn Fillmore (Simi Valley, Calif.) hit a solo homerun in the bottom half of the sixth to make it 4-2
- The Bulldogs extended their lead in the top of the seventh when pinch runner Allie Souza scored on a Terra Jerpbak RBI single to make it 5-2
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Fillmore led the Pioneers with two hits, including a solo homerun, her second of the season
FOR THE FOES:
- Jerpbak, Kennedy, and Delgadillo had to hits a piece to lead Yale
- Kennedy had two RBI for the Bulldogs
- Efflandt went the distance giving up five hits and just two runs
GAME 2: SACRED HEART vs. YALE
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Do doubled and scored on a Labbadia single in the third
- Appelberg bunted her way on with two outs in the sixth and scored on a Bevino RBI double
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Delgadillo led the Pioneers at the plate with two hits
- Bevino had the lone RBI
- Emily Orosco (Camarillo, Calif.) pitched the first seven innings scattering three hits and giving up the one run to Yale
FOR THE FOES:
- Labbadia, Delgadillo, and Do had a hit apiece for Yale
- Francesca Casalino and Jerpbak combined to strikeout eleven Pioneer batters
