Kissimmee, FL (March 6, 2016)- The Sacred Heart softball team went 1-1 on Sunday at the Rebel Games as the Pioneers beat Niagra 10-2 in the first game before dropping the second to Holy Cross 6-1.

In game one, freshman pitcher Kristen McCann (Phoenix, Ariz.) got her first collegiate win getting plenty of run support in the win over the Purple Eagles. The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning with Hailey Desrosiers (Cypress, Calif.) and Fallon Bevino (Milford, Conn.) coming around to score. Niagara evened the score with its only two runs of the game in the top of the fourth, but sophomore Hannah Ford (New Fairfield, Conn.) score the eventual game-winner in the bottom of the inning. The SHU offense exploded in the bottom of the fifth inning for seven runs on six hits, four of which were for extra bases, to enact the run rule ending the game in five innings.

The Pioneers fell in game two to Holy Cross as they couldn't get the same production with their bats that they had earlier in the day. The Purple Knights got four runs in the first inning off junior pitcher Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.), which was all they would need. SHU got its only run in the third inning when Kelyn Fillmore (Simi Valley, Calif.) worked her way on with a walk before coming around to score on Lauren Delgadillo's (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) single.

Sacred Heart takes tomorrow off before heading to DeLand Tuesday evening for a doubleheader at Stetson beginning at 4:00 p.m.
