Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Riverdale, N.Y. (March 26, 2016) – The Sacred Heart softball team split a pair of one-run games on Saturday afternoon against Manhattan College. The Pioneers won game one 1-0 before falling in game two 3-2.

Game one was a pitchers duel as both starters went the distance. Sacred Heart's Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.) got the win and was nearly unhittable as she gave up just two hits while striking out twelve. The Pioneers got the lone run of the game in the fifth when Hailey Desrosiers (Cypress, Calif.) scored on a Stephanie Appelberg (Monroe, Conn.) RBI single up the middle.

In game two, Sacred Heart jumped out to an early lead as McKenna Wiegand (Gilbert, Ariz.) hit a two-run single up the middle to score Kristen McCann (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Kelyn Fillmore (Simi Valley, Calif.). Manhattan got two of their own in the bottom of the third to tie the game before gaining the lead on a Elena Bowman solo homerun to make it 3-2.
