Box Score 2 FAIRFIELD, CONN. (May 2, 2015)—Kacie Wentworth led the Pioneers to a 3-0 win in the season finale holding Mount St. Mary's. The senior held Mount to just three hits while striking out five batters. Senior Justine Sibthorp went 2-for-4 in the doubleheader with a pair of doubles and scoring two runs. The win combined with the 3-1 loss in the first game finalizes the Sacred Heart softball team's 2015 record at 14-30 overall and 5-11 against Northeast Conference opponents.
The Pioneers got on the board first in game one. Sibthorp, who went 2-for-2 in the game, led off the second inning with a double down the right field line and moved to third on Victoria D'Addario's single. With one down, D'Addario faked a steal attempt drawing the throw down from Marisa Mayes allowing Sibthorp to steal home for SHU's only run of the game. After being caught in a bit of a run down, D'Addario found her way back safe at first.
Jamie Carlson pitched a complete game for the Pioneers only stumbling in the fourth inning when the Mountaineers got three runs off the sophomore. Throughout seven innings Carlson collected nine strikeouts while only allowing four hits.
In the bottom of the first inning of game two, with two outs and runners on first and second, D'Addario ripped a single straight up the middle scoring Kelyn Fillmore, who reached on a single. With Linsey DeDomenico at the plate, and two outs, D'Addario and Sibthorp once again worked the double steal. This time D'Addario was safe at second as Sibthorp scored giving SHU a 2-0 lead.
Sacred Heart got one more run off Sam Lichtner, who came in to relieve Hayley Stankan in the bottom of the fourth. Junior Courtney Machamer got the call to pinch hit for Jenn Robillard in the fourth reaching on a fielder's choice. Motoring around the bases as rookie Lauren Delgadillo sent a double into left field, Robillard, who reentered as a runner for Machamer, scored the final run of her SHU career.
