Box Score 2 MOON TOWNSHIP, PA (March 30, 2015)—The Sacred Heart softball team dropped both games of Monday's doubleheader to Robert Morris. After falling 9-1 in five innings in the first game, the Colonials blanked the Pioneers 2-0 in the latter game.
After getting yesterday's game-winning hit, Victoria D'Addario (Lincoln Park, N.J.) recorded the Pioneers' only RBI of the day. A series of bad plays by Robert Morris allowed the sophomore to come up with runners on the corners. Hitting the ball hard to the shortstop, who misplayed the ball, D'Addario allowed Sibthorp to score, but the damage had already been done and now the Pioneers trailed 5-1.
Adrianna Mallory's (Pine Bush, N.Y.) record dropped to 0-4 on the season after giving up eight of the Colonials' nine runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings. Only four runs were credited to the junior as Sacred Heart committed three fielding errors. Kelli Licursi (Somers, N.Y.) came in for an inning and gave up one run on two hits while striking out two batters.
Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.) got the start in the circle for the Pioneers in the second game. After getting into trouble in the bottom of the first where she gave up two runs on three hits, the sophomore settled down and silenced the Colonial bats the rest of the game allowing just three more hits while collecting four strikeouts through the rest of the game.
While Carlson did her best the limit RMU's scoring, Colonial starter Nicole Sleith silenced the Pioneers's allowing SHU just three hits through seven innings.
Sacred Heart is scheduled to play Quinnipiac Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
