Sacred Heart Held Scoreless in Loss to Boston U

Box Score

Fairfield, Conn. (April 21, 2013)—The Sacred Heart Softball managed just two hits against Boston University Sunday afternoon as they were shutout 8-0. Nicole Sidor (West Vancouver, BC) and Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) notched the only hits against the Terriers's crafty righty. The Pioneers fall to 20-23 on the season with the loss.

Taylor Lane (Lisbon, Conn.) got the start in the non-conference match-up. The junior gave up five runs on six hits over 3.1 innings of work before Kacie Wentworth (Canton, N.Y.) came in in the fourth to close out the game. Wentworth gave up the latter three runs on eight Terrier hits while striking out two.

The Pioneer bats were silenced in the game as SHU batters combined for 12 strikeouts. Sacred Heart had two opportunities to score: one in the first inning and one in the third. Both times Dreher was on third with two outs.

Sacred Heart heads to Hartford next to faceoff against the Hawks for a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday.
