Fairfield, Conn.—The Sacred Heart Women's Soccer Team is officially on a streak after defeating the Manhattan Jaspers 2-1 Sunday afternoon on Campus Field. Jen Mulvey (Manalapan, N.J.) and Ashley Moore( Levittown, N.Y.), once again, scored for the Pioneers. With the win, Sacred Heart is even with a 2-2-0 record.

The Pioneers' goalkeeper Talia Schwartz (Roslyn, N.Y.) only recorded one save in the first half on the only shot the Jaspers could manage, as Sacred Heart was on the offense for the majority of the half. SHU tallied seven shots on goal and 10 overall.

After scoring Friday's game-winning goal, Ashley Moore (Levittown, N.Y.) wasted no time. Getting the ball from Jackie DeLucia (Bethel, Conn.), just nine minutes into the game, the senior took a shot from the right wing that sailed past Manhattan goalkeeper Kara Davis for the only goal of the first half.

In the 51st minute of the game, Sacred Heart was awarded a penalty kick due to a Manhattan handball in the box. Mulvey stepped up for the Pioneers, driving the ball to the inside corner for Sacred Heart's second goal of the game. 

The Jaspers had a better handle in the second half, managing six shots in the period. Still, the tough Pioneer defense was reluctant to allow a goal. However, with just three minutes over three minutes left to play, Martine Diamond notched a goal from the left wing for Manhattan's only goal of the game.

The Jaspers used the goal's momentum to threaten all the way up to the buzzer, but they were not able to score again, as the Pioneers won 2-1.

Sacred Heart is back in action on September 14 at Cornell.
