WEST WINDSOR, NJ (April 21, 2012) - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team saw it's 2012 season end Saturday afternoon, falling to rival Quinnipiac in the NEC Championship Semifinals, 4-0.
The #2 seeded Bobcats opened with winning the doubles point, beating the #3 seeded Pioneers at #1 and #3. Rachel Cantor and Sarah Viebrock blanked SHU's Kate Donnelly (Centerville, MA) and Kristina Chao (Needham, MA), 8-0, who played in their final matches for the Pioneers on Saturday.
Ariana Launie and Lavinia Cristescu closed out the point with an 8-2 win over Gabi Kaldan (New Brunswick, NJ) and Haley Dubits (Andover, NJ).
The Bobcats used the strength at the bottom of their line-up to sweep singles at #4 through #6 to close out the match and advance Sunday's championship round. Michelle Dassa beat Chao, 6-0 and 6-0 at #4 and Launie took down Kristin Legenza (Berlin, CT) at #5, 6-1 and 6-0.
Cristescu close out the match with a 6-2 and 6-0 win over Dubits at #6.
