Pioneers Beaten at Quinnipiac, 6-1

HAMDEN, CT (April 10, 2012) - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team fell to 3-2 in Northeast Conference play, losing at Quinnipiac 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.  The Pioneers are 8-10 overall and will wrap up the regular season with two more matches this week before next weekend's NEC Championship.

Sophomore Gabi Kaldan (New Brunswick, NJ) provided the Pioneers' lone point with a singles win at #1.  Kaldan posted a 6-3 and 6-2 win over Rachel Cantor.  She also earned a doubles win, teaming with freshman Haley Dubits (Andover, NJ) at #3 to beat Ariana Launie and Lavinia Cristescu, 9-7.

Senior Kate Donnelly (Centerville, MD) saw her four-game NEC winning streak stopped by Sarah Viebrock at #3, 6-3, 6-1.

The Pioneers will host Rhode Island on Thursday and travel to Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday to end their dual match season in preperation for the NEC Championship on April 20-22.
