(Norwalk, CT) made 13 saves, including ten in the second half, but
the Lock Haven Eagles beat the Sacred Heart University Field Hockey
team 6-1 Sunday afternoon.
Katie
Mazin (Putnam Valley, NY) scored SHU's only goal on the
afternoon, knocking in a loose ball in the front of the cage for an
unassisted goal at the 61:44 mark. Before that, though, Lock
Haven controlled the game throughout, attempting 32 shots total and
hitting the cage with 19 shots on goal.
Kristi Shepps scored the first two goals for Lock Haven, opening
up the scoring at the 23:04 mark unassisted on a rebound off a Stow
save, then scoring again on a cross to the front of the net on a
feed from Nicole Weaknecht a the 26:56 mark.
Leslie Ahern made it 3-0 Lock Haven at the 37: 48 mark,
deflecting home a shot from Kelly Harsh. Then, Amy Hordendorf
drilled a pass from Harsh inside the right post to make it 4-0 at
the 43:41 mark. Hordendorf followed that with another goal,
this one unassisted at the 45:53 mark. Eleven seconds later,
Nicole Weakecht took a cross from Hordendorf to tap past Stow to
make it 6-0.
The Pioneers are next in action Oct. 10 at home when they host
Quinnipiac at 12:00 p.m.
