FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 28, 2007) - The Sacred Heart women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches but came up short in singles play, losing four of six matches to Siena to fall to the Saints, 4-3, Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers are 6-6 in dual match play this season.

Senior Pam Pillo (Shelton, CT) and sophomore Nicole Betz (Long Beach, NY) posted an 8-4 win over Sarah Mayer and Karina Davis at #1. The freshmen tandem of Julianne Kasinow (Wall, NJ) and Ashley Amalfe (Clark, NJ) topped Taylor Barveets and Sugam Langer, 8-4.

Junior Jessica Schnell (Schenectady, NY) and sophomore Mandy Finkelstein (Portland, CT) beat Julia Lebedev and Cassandra Del Gatto 8-3 to seal up the doubles point.

In singles action, Finkelstein and Amalfe were the lone SHU winners. Finkelstein beat Langer 6-0, 6-3 at #5 and Amalfe won 6-0, 6-0 over Del Gatto at #6. Pillo lost in three sets at #1 to Mayer. Mayer took the first set 6-3 with Pillo taking the second, 6-2. Mayer blanked Pillo in the third set, 6-0 to take the match.
