Mike Guastelle

Mike Guastelle is in his 30th year as a member of the Sacred Heart University athletic department. He currently serves as the head men's and women's tennis coach which he started along with the men’s program in 1994. He previously held the position of Senior Associate Athletic Director/Internal Operations & Sports Administration from 2000-2021 before returning to coach both programs in January 2022 after a four-year hiatus from coaching. He served as Head Men's Tennis Coach from 1994-2005 and Head Women’s Tennis Coach from 1994-2017. Prior to being named Senior Associate AD, Mike served as Director of Athletic Communications from 1994-2000. 

Mike holds a bachelor's degree in Sports Management, as well as a Master's degree in Athletic Administration from Springfield College. He resides in Fairfield with his wife Karen and son Jake (18).

Coaching Accomplishments

  • 1997 New England Collegiate Conference Women’s Tennis “Coach of the Year” 
  • Led men’s program to the finals of 2004 Northeast Conference Tennis Championships.
  • Led women’s program to first New England Intercollegiate Championship in 2005.
  • 2023 Northeast Conference Women’s Tennis “Coach of the Year”.
  • Led women's program to first NEC Tournament title match in 2023.
  • Coached 40 All-Conference Selections (26 women, 14 men) during his career.
  • Women’s team has earned ITA Division I All-Academic Team Honors in 21 of the last 22 years.
  • Men’s team has earned ITA Division I All-Academic Team Honors 10 times total.
