Zandra Martellaro

Zandra Martellaro enters her second year as an Athletic Trainer at Sacred Heart University, responsible for women's rugby and swimming and diving teams.

Martellaro joined the athletic training staff at SHU in 2022. She has four years of experience covering various sports at Hood College, including field hockey, women's volleyball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's swimming and softball. Her additional assignment was to manage the schedules of student workers in the Athletic Training Graduate Program. After completing a year at Hood, Martellaro was recruited to work at Frederick Community College. She had been assigned a variety of sports including baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball and soccer.

Martellaro worked with the Trenton Thunder and Frederick Keys baseball teams in the Major League Baseball Draft League during the summer of 2022. The league featured college athletes with the potential to be drafted into the major leagues. Multiple Major League Baseball teams picked up some of the players treated by Martellaro.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in 2016 and a master’s degree in athletic training from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2018. Currently, she holds an Athletic Training license in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, and has been a BOC certified Athletic Trainer since 2018. Martellaro hails from New Windsor, N.Y. and is thrilled to be closer to her family, especially her nephew Linus with whom she can now spend more time.
