Grant Vera has extensive experience across various levels of athletics in the role of strength and conditioning, athletic development coach, and sport scientist.
Most recently, he worked as a Temporary Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Notre Dame, where he contributed to the athlete preparation for the 2024 football season. He oversaw the development of the Quarterbacks and Special Teams Groups and helped implement various sport science technologies, such as Catapult GPS, force plates, an 8-camera motion capture system and more.
Before Notre Dame, Vera was a Volunteer Assistant Athletic Development coach at Louisiana State University, where he played a vital role in training three first-round NFL Draft picks and supporting the development of Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels during the 2023 football season. His expertise also extended to the integration of sport science technologies to optimize athlete health and performance.
Prior to LSU, Vera served as a Graduate Sport Performance Coach at Gardner-Webb University, assisting with six sports, including football, in their strength and conditioning programs. He was instrumental in helping the football team win its first-ever Big South Championship and led multiple return-to-play groups, facilitating athlete rehabilitation and performance improvement while returning to sport.
Vera gained early experience as a Sports Performance Intern with the Kent State University football team. While at Kent State, Vera spent 4 years as a member of the baseball team as both a shortstop and pitcher. He also played for the prestigious Midland Redskins, an elite amateur baseball organization with over 100 MLB alumni, including two Hall of Famers.
In addition to his collegiate coaching roles, Vera runs Vera Human Performance LLC, where he consults and privately trains clients ranging from youth athletes and high school teams to the general population and professional athletes.
His educational background includes a Master of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from Gardner-Webb University and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Performance from Kent State University. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. A native of Tiffin, Ohio, Grant now lives in Fairfield.
