Ben St. Martin

Ben St. Martin enters his seventh year at Sacred Heart University as Associate Athletic Trainer. His primary sport responsibilities are our men’s ice hockey, men's and women's golf and rowing teams. Other responsibilities include revisions and implementation of the athletic department’s concussion policy and work study coordinator.  St. Martin also holds a certificate in dry needling therapy.

St. Martin joins SHU’s Athletic Training staff after spending six years as an Associate Athletic Trainer at the University of Bridgeport. At UB, he covered men’s soccer, women’s basketball and baseball. He assisted in writing and revising the Athletic Training room policies and procedures that included UB’s emergency action plan and concussion protocol. He has been a Clinical Preceptor for Athletic Training students from SHU since 2012, and supervised Quinnipiac Athletic Training students while at Bridgeport from 2012-2017.

Prior to his time at Bridgeport, St. Martin spent two years as a graduate assistant at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn. He worked with the Johnnies' men’s ice hockey program for two seasons as well as the football and track & field teams. During this time, he pursued a master’s degree in Sports Management from St. Cloud State University which he completed in 2016.

St. Martin received his undergraduate degree from University of Connecticut in May of 2009. During his four years at UConn, he gained a variety of experiences working with the football, men’s ice hockey and track & field teams.

Ben is a member of National Athletic Training Association, Connecticut Athletic Training Association and Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society. He maintains a Connecticut state Athletic Training license and has been a BOC certified Athletic Trainer since 2009.

Originally from Columbia, Conn., he is excited to be working in his home state with our great staff here at Sacred Heart. He lives in Stratford with his wife Alyson, daughter Harper, and son Liam.
