Charlie Rau

Charlie Rau joined the Sacred Heart University athletic training staff in July 2023 with her primary clinical responsibilities with men’s soccer, women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s fencing. 

Rau recently graduated from University of Idaho with her Master in Athletic Training. While at University of Idaho, she had the opportunity to immerse herself for the entire two years at four different clinical rotations at power-five universities. In the fall of 2021, she joined Gonzaga University sports staff. Her primary responsibilities were women’s soccer and men’s cross country. In the spring of 2022 she joined University of Colorado Boulder working with their football team. Her second year in the program, she joined Vanderbilt University’s sports medicine department, working with the football team the fall season of 2022. She finished her last rotation at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill working with the women’s lacrosse team in the spring of 2023. 

While at University of Idaho, Rau was introduced to multiple clinical advancements and is now certified in: Mulligan, Dynamic Release Therapy, Positional Release Therapy and Myokinesthetic that are just a few of many that she uses in her daily practice. Her research interests include concussion diagnosis and rehabilitation. She is also trained in mental health first aid, and advocates for all student-athletes and their mental health services. 

Prior to her time at University of Idaho, Rau attended Colorado Mesa University, where she graduated with her undergrad in Exercise Science. 

Rau is a California native, who currently resides in Connecticut with her two dogs, who enjoy mountain biking and trail running with her in her free time.
