Will Fox, a Major League Lacrosse Draft Pick and University of North Carolina coach, has joined the Sacred Heart men's lacrosse team as an assistant coach.

Fox, who served as a volunteer assistant with the Tar Heels the last three years, comes back to the town he played in as a collegian.

"I am thrilled to join the Sacred Heart lacrosse staff and to contribute to the growth and success of our student-athletes and the program," said Fox, a 2018 Fairfield University graduate.

Fox took his B.S. in psychology and a minor in health studies with him to Chapel Hill in 2019. As a Stag, he was a two-time Second-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association pick in 2015 and 2016 who was also the CAA Rookie of the Year in 2015.

"We are very excited to have Will with us," said Basti. "The experience Coach Fox has, both playing and coaching at a high level, will help our guys tremendously with their individual skill development, especially the face-off guys. He is a good man and will represent our program very well."

The former Face-Off Director for the Southshore Lacrosse Club is second all-time at Fairfield in career face-off wins, face-off win percentage and ground balls. He also ranks eighth all-time in the CAA for career face-off wins and 12th all-time for career face-off winning percentage and ground balls.

Fox's other accolades from his collegiate career include Fairfield's Male Freshman Athlete of the Year in 2015 and Fairfield's Alumni Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2018. Additionally, Fox was a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award in 2018 and received a Scholar All-Academic nod from the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association in 2018.

SHU's new assistant coach was drafted by the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the 2018 Supplemental Draft of Major League Lacrosse. That same year he was named a U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-America.

"I want to thank Jon Basti, Athletics Director Judy Ann Riccio, and the rest of the SHU Administration for this opportunity, as well as Joe Breschi for helping me to develop as a coach the past three years at the University of North Carolina," Fox added. "I am excited to begin this new chapter as a part of Pioneer family, and I look forward to the hard work and success that is to come."
