Tama Mackay, SHU' Hockey's Sports Massage Therapist, worked the last six years with the New York Islanders’ AHL affiliate in Bridgeport, where she treated both AHL and NHL hockey players. She is a Connecticut native and business owner who is a soft tissue expert specializing in active release techniques (ART).
She has also worked with WTA, NCAA Division I and TEAM USA athletes. In addition to being full body certified in ART, she also has extensive experience in other soft tissue manipulation modalities, ranging from sports massage to orthopedic manual therapy, cupping and Graston techniques, to name a few. Her primary focus is to help athletes recover quickly, maximize their performance and reduce the risk of injury. As a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, she approaches her work from the strong understanding of what a competitive athlete needs.

Tama is the Director of Sport Massage for the AMTA CT Chapter and the recipient of both the Connecticut and the AMTA National Sports Massage Achiever Awards. She spent time with TEAM USA at their training facility, where she worked with some of the country’s top amateur athletes. She has also been the Director of massage for the Special Olympics Summer Games in Connecticut since 2017.
