Chris Azzano

Chris Azzano joined the Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team's coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2024-25 season (hiring release).

Azzano joins SHU with a decade of coaching experience, including eight seasons at the collegiate level and a pair of junior hockey campaigns in the USHL. Most recently, he oversaw goaltenders at fellow Atlantic Hockey member Army during the 2023-24 season. Prior to that, Azzano was on the coaching staff at ECAC member Colgate, where he helped guide the Red Raiders to the league title in 2023.

Azzano has extensive experience at the Division III level as well, with assistant coaching stints at SUNY Morrisville, SUNY Cortland and SUNY Canton. He also logged two seasons on the coaching staff of the USHL's Lincoln Stars, where he also coordinated team travel and the club's youth clinics. With the Stars, Azzano helped develop eight players who went on to get drafted by National Hockey League teams.

As an undergraduate, Azzano played three seasons at SUNY Morrisville, where he was a three-time SUNYAC All-Academic Team and two-time SUNYAC Commissioner's List honoree. Prior to that, he spent one collegiate season at Wentworth and had a four-year OJHL career, playing with four different teams (hockeyDB page).

Originally from Oshawa, Onatario, Azzano is a 2014 garduate of SUNY Morrisville, with a degree in business administration. He earned his master's in sports management from SUNY Cortland in 2017.
