Sacred Heart University head football coach Mark Nofri rounded out his coaching staff with the addition of Isaiah Watson as running backs coach. He comes to the Pioneers after three seasons on the staff at Marist College.
“We’re happy to have Isiah joining our football staff and working with a talented running back room,” Nofri said. “I am sure Isiah will continue to lead our running backs to do great things, both on and off the field.”
When he arrived in Poughkeepsie, Watson was the slot receivers coach then took over the running backs the last two seasons. Wide receiver Anthony Olivencia earned Pioneer Football League honors during Watson’s first year.
Watson played wide receiver for the Red Foxes from 2015-18. In 2016, he led Marist with 12 special teams tackles. During the 2017 season, he caught his first career touchdown pass in a victory over Stetson, and appeared in all 11 games. He started the team’s first three games at wide receiver in 2018 before suffering a season-ending injury.
Success wasn’t limited to the field as Watson was a two-time Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll selection. A native of Gambrills, Md., he is a two-time Marist graduate. He earned his bachelor's degree in 2019 and master's in integrated marketing communications in 2021.
