Before Sacred Heart
Before transferring into SHU this fall, Kevin attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. While playing football for the Naval Academy, the team won the 2009 Texas Bowl and was runner-up in the Poinsettia Bowl in 2010.
High School - While attending Archbishop Carroll High School, Kevin played football all four years and was named captain his Senior year. He was also named to the All-City Team twice and named to the All-State team. In 2008, his team won the Hero Bowl. Kevin also excelled in indoor and outdoor track. He was named captain his Junior and Senior years and named to the All-City and All-State teams. In 2008, he qualified for Junior Olympic National Championship. During the years Kevin ran, the track team won Junior Olympic District Championships, the Junior Olympic Regional Championship and the Junior Olympic National Championship.
Personal - Full name is Kevin Justin Eckel, born on March 3, 1990. His parents are Richard and Maureen Eckel. He has a brother Kyle and a sister named Erika. He is majoring in Business. His favorite sports teams are the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and 76ers. His favorite professional athletes are Barry Sanders, Brian Dawkins, Hunter Pence and Tyson Gay. He likes the TV Show Parks and Recreation and his favorite musician is Jimmy Hendrix. His favorite food is "mushroom American Whiz without" Philly Cheesesteak.
If Kevin could have dinner with anyone in the world, dead or alive, it would be Benjamin Franklin because he was a great innovator and a ladies' man.
