JERSEY CITY N.J. - It was all Pioneers in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener as the Sacred Heart University men's soccer team defeated the Peacocks of Saint Peter's 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field.

How it Happened:
The Pioneers wasted little time finding the back of the net, as Sam McCann struck in the third minute to put SHU ahead 1-0.
Saint Peter's had their best opportunity of the match, in the 38th minute when Tim Strele got past Luca Marinelli and shot high on a wide-open net.
Sacred Heart delivered the dagger when Ivan Morcillo received a pass from senior captain David Garcia Gallego, to make it 2-0 in the 86th minute.
In the 89th minute, Saint Peters scored but it wasn't enough as the Pios hung on to earn the three points on the road as they won 2-1.
