How it Happened:
After a three-run second inning for CCSU, the Pioneers immediately responded in the top of the third to tie things at 3-3. Joe Cilea and Zack Kovalchik each secured back-to-back base hits. Gavin Donohue then put both runners in scoring position with a groundout before Cilea scored off a double to right center from Alex Ungar. Kovalchik was plated with a ground out from Tim McGuire and Ungar scored on a balk from the pitcher.

The Blue Devils did not let off the gas as they scored four in the bottom of the third to take a 7-3 advantage.

SHU tacked on another run in the fourth as Cilea secured his second hit of the day to plate Ronan Donohue.

After a quiet fifth inning, R. Donohue drove Dante D'Amore home with a groundout in the sixth but CCSU responded with one of its own on an RBI double.

The Pioneers had a prime chance to swing the game in the seventh, with the bases loaded and the leading run at the plate, but a strikeout ended the chance as SHU remained down against CCSU.

The Blue Devils secured a solo home run to extend their lead to 9-5 in the bottom of the seventh.

CCSU added two insurance runs in the eighth and the Pios' one run in the ninth, but it proved not to be enough in the 11-6 road defeat.
