FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Behind a season-high five points from senior Shae Insinga, the Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team captured its second straight non-conference victory at home on Campus Field, defeating the University of New Hampshire by a two-goal advantage, 7-5.

Insinga scored four of the Pioneers' seven goals, tallied one assist, and won seven draw controls, a season-high for the senior attack. Jamie Tanner and Adisyn Bernhardt also found the back of the net for the Pioneers, while Tanner and Araneo recorded an assist.

The defensive side of the ball was led by Lisa Martin, who made six saves in goal, while Brooke Gyllenhaal caused three of the Wildcats' 15 turnovers.

How it Happened:
The game kicked off with Sacred Heart seizing an early lead as Tanner scored at 11:05, putting them in the lead 1-0. The Pioneers' dominance was further established just over three minutes later when Insinga extended their lead with another unassisted goal at 08:13, making it 2-0.

New Hampshire responded three minutes later, with Kate O'Rourke scoring to bring the visitors within one, 2-1, at the end of the first period.

The Wildcats carried their offensive momentum into the second period. At 10:06, Allie Connerty found the back of the net, leveling the score at 2-2. 

Shortly after, Sacred Heart regained the lead at 04:36 when Insinga scored again, this time on an assist from Maggie Araneo. From there, solid defensive work from both teams kept the game locked at 3-2 in favor of the hosts heading into the halftime break.

A pair of third-period goals from Insinga pushed the Pioneers' lead to three, 5-2, but New Hampshire made a late push, with Charlize Collins scoring with 17 seconds left to bring the score to 5-3.

In the fourth period, Sacred Heart widened the gap when Adisyn Bernhardt scored her first collegiate goal at 12:39, making it 6-3. New Hampshire countered Bernhardt's goal with one from Rose Pavuk, narrowing the score to 6-4. 

However, Sacred Heart sealed the game at 08:41 with an unassisted goal by Erin Herrold, pushing the lead to 7-4.

New Hampshire's final goal came at 6:48, but it wasn't enough to overcome Sacred Heart's dominant performance.

The Pioneers return to Campus Field this Saturday, March 8th, for a non-conference battle with the Monmouth Hawks. The first draw is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
