FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas Saturday night, 3-1.
Dylan McClung led the Pios in kills with 17 and digs with 12.
Aleksa Mandic secured a season high of seven aces and
Cade Trujillo had a career high of 37 assists.

How it Happened:
The Pios maintained an early lead in the first set outhitting the Trojans 11-8 and .208 to .100. The Pios performed well at the service line as the tallied four kills.
The teams battled through four ties before the Pios took a lead with kills from
Jaron Popp,
Aaron Johnson and
Aleksa Mandic. The Trojans came back to tie things up at 16 but an ace coupled with a trio of Trojan errors gave SHU the lead again. STAC was unable to close the gap as the Pioneers took the second set 25-22.
STAC took an early lead in the third that the Pios late run was unable to close the gap ultimately falling 25-19.
The fourth set was really tight as the teams faced 12 ties. STAC secured the 25-22 win with two kills and an error.
SHU capitalized on Trojan errors in the fifth to take the match 15-12.
