Women's Wrestling Tops WNEU, 28-15

The Pioneers won seven of the 10 matches to secure the road win

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Sacred Heart University women's wrestling team ended its dual meet schedule on a high note, defeating Western New England University on the road by a final score of 28-15. 
 
The Pioneers, united in their goal, finished the regular season with a dual record of 10-8, which included key victories over Northern Michigan, East Stroudsburg, Lock Haven, and Elmira.

Of Note:
The competition began with a remarkable performance from Ahsia Torres, who swiftly defeated Claudia King by pin in just 26 seconds, giving SHU an early lead of 5-0. Aalyiah Payne Parris then showcased her skills with a dominant 12-4 decision victory over Victoria Orender, extending the Pioneers' lead to 8-0. Nohea Moniz continued the winning streak with a 12-0 tech fall over Hailey Laabs, further solidifying SHU's lead at 12-0. 
 
The Golden Bears' Linda Holeman broke the scoreless drought with a 10-0 tech fall win over Cailan Drake, narrowing the gap to 12-4. Elleahna Anderson then responded with a 10-6 decision win over Jaden Coppins, pushing SHUs' lead to double-digits, 15-4. 
 
WNE's Tanya Teneva returned with a fall victory over Bailee Militello in 3:47, closing the score to 15-9 in favor of SHU. Temi Sanusi edged Noelle Alexander in a tight 6-5 decision, increasing SHU's lead to 18-9. At 160 pounds, the Golden Bears' Atiyana Williams defeated Jacklyn Smith by a 4-2 decision, narrowing the score to 18-12. 
 
The penultimate match saw Madison Sandquist demonstrating her dominance with a swift fall over Mikayla Maloy in just 53 seconds, extending SHU's lead to 23-12. The final match, a showdown between Madeline Hodges and Samantha Rabkin, ended with Hodges earning a decisive 10-0 tech fall, sealing SHU's victory with a final score of 27-12.
