FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team suffered an 18-2 defeat to Brown on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at Campus Field.
Junior attack Maggie Araneo was once again the offensive standout for the Pioneers, scoring both of Sacred Heart's goals. Araneo has now tallied multi-point performances in consecutive games. On the defensive end, Maci Black led the charge with a season-high four caused turnovers, while Madelyn Breitbeil added three.

How it Happened:
Despite outshooting Brown 7-5 in the first quarter, Sacred Heart could not convert any of its opportunities, while the Bears scored four unanswered goals to take an early 4-0 lead.
The second quarter saw Brown add to its lead with a fifth goal at the 11:49 mark, courtesy of Greta Criqui. The Pioneers answered with Araneo's free-position goa on a man-up opportunity, making it 5-1 with 6:48 left. However, Brown responded with two more goals before halftime, extending its lead to 7-1.
Brown continued its dominance in the third quarter, with Criqui completing her hat trick just two minutes into the period, making it 8-1. Araneo answered again for Sacred Heart, converting on a man-up opportunity to notch her fifth goal of the season, but the Bears' offensive onslaught continued, and they pushed their lead to 18-2, scoring ten unanswered goals—seven of them in the final quarter.
